About Me and The Blog

I'm a student of Medicine in one of the premier government medical institutions of Paksitan (King Edward Medical University) and was also accepted at the prestigious Aga Khan University and LUMS. My pre-university qualification included O'levels and A'levels with pretty good grades and my subjects were Physics, Chemistry, Biology, ICT, Statistics and Additonal Mathematics in O'levels. Along with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Further Mathematics in A'levels.

As for this blog, I will try to post information regularly about the queries I get from my juniors in my former school, from all over Pakistan and the out of country students doing O'levels and A'levels. This information will include my own experience and advice about how to tackle the problems. My posts will mainly be related to the subjects that I took in my O'levels and A'levels. So don't hesitate to put up a query regarding those.

Another part of this blog will provide you information about University Entrance Exams which will include SAT, MCAT (Both international and UHS one), AKU entry test, LCAT (LUMS), NTS and so on. With my speciality being obviously the entrance to medical institutions. You'll also get information about the application procedure of local and international universities. Information about international applications will include Common Application (USA), UCAS (UK), HKU entrance and other reputed universities around the world.

I hope the information I post is of valuable importance to you. But this blog can only work with your feedback anc interest. So your advice will always be appreciated. Thank you for visiting the blog. :)

    1. I write about what people ask me directly. And since I chose the medical field, I've been more concerned with that.

  8. Hey OakMoon! I had a question regarding the MCAT documents. Do we just require the O level equivalence or is there anything like AS equivalence? It will be too late to register for the MCAT when the A level final result would be out.

    1. You need only O level equivalence for registration.

    1. No, you shouldn't do A'levels, as its comparatively easier to get into MBBS via fsc. We, A'levels students find it even harder. You can give your FSC papers again, but given that you have haven't done well in FSC, I'd recommend you don't waste your life trying to do well in MBBS, go for some other field like Biotechnology etc.

  11. Thank you very much in advance. JazakAllah Khair!
I got 1 A* , 4 A's and 2 B's ( B in Math and Physics) in Olevels. I gave my olevels and alevels from Abroad. I did not give Pak Stds. Or Islmaiyat but gave Urdu and got an A in it.
Now here's my dilemma : After alot of hard work, I scored 3 A's in my Alevels (Phy Chem Bio)
Im currently taking a gap year to prepare for MCAT.
My question is : Do i need to give Pak Stds and islamiyat? Will not having given these subjects affect my FSc equivalence? Will giving them improve it in any way possible? As they add Your Raw Olevel marks into your Fsc?

Also, Question 2 : I am aiming for Govt. Medical colleges. To improve my score, shall i re-give olevel Physics and Olevel Math or focus on MCAT only?

    1. The equivalence form states:
"If a candidate passes ‘O’ level from abroad and appears for ‘A’ level from Pakistan or vice versa, he/she has to pass Urdu, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies at SSC or ‘O’ level for obtaining Equivalence Certificate."
So you have to pass Pakistan Studies and Islamiyat to obtain equivalence.

And about the 2nd question, MCAT has the highest weightage (50%) so you should focus on MCAT. But then I would say O levels are super easy and marks boosters, so if you can get As/A*s without compromising your prep. for MCAT, go for them.

    2. I have already answered your question sir on this post: http://academicshelp.blogspot.com/2013/08/alevels-or-fsc-after-olevels-for.html

You don't need to post again and again.

  12. I appeared for all my Alevels and Olevels from abroad. Didnt give any of them in Pakistan. Would i still have to give Pak Stds and Islamiyat?

    1. Oh alright. There is no information about it in the form. That should mean you do not have to give them. But I don't know. And many O levels did you pass? 7?

    2. If you appeared from abroad, you don't need Islamiat, Urdu and Pakistan Studies. Your equivalence will be based on 5 subjects.

  13. Aoa brother, i needed some suggestion from you. I am doing my O levels with science subjects. I gave 5 subjects this may and will give 3 more in oct thus completing my O levels. What i needed to ask is that as i am aiming for medical and i am not sure wether to do Fsc Or A levels. I made a mistake by giving exams in 2 sittings. Now if wait till june or sth for admission in college then it will be a waste of a year. Is it possible that i get admission in middle of academic session in colleges (Fsc) or else i can finish my "As' by May so that i do not loose a year?

    1. Check out my post about doing A'levels or FSC after O'levels in the same blog if you need help in deciding. As for not losing a year, I'd suggest you join college, either for FSC or A'levels as soon as you are done with your exams. Some colleges may accept you before your results for the remaining three subjects is out.

    2. Can you name some colleges which accept in the middle of session?
