Many students are unaware of the exact equivalence process during their O/A'levels. And as I have stated in my other posts, knowing this process can really be essential to make a decision regarding your future, such as the decision to do A'levels or FSc after O'levels.
In this post I will not only state the procedure, but anyone can comment below with their grades, and I'll calculate their equivalence and percentage myself.
Here are the forms and documents posted on the IBCC website that are necessary for getting your certificate made: Equivalence Form and Equivalence Details.
Firstly, you need to understand that the following procedure started taking place for the exams including and after the June 2010 session, and if you have a subject that you appeared before 2010 will have different rules.
Secondly, every grade in O'levels and A'levels is given a specific number of marks, and you need to have 8 subjects-including Pakistan Studies, Islamiat and Urdu- if you did your O'levels from Pakistan, and 5 subjects if you did it from abroad or are in possession of a foreign passport.
If you have Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Computer Studies as your optional subjects, you get a "Science" certificate but in case your 8th subject is Additional Mathematics, you'll get an "Arts" certificate, along with any other combination of subjects.
The following marks are specified for each grade in both O and A'levels:
A*=90
A=85
B=75
C=65
D=55 and so on..
The marks given in the certificate are out of 900 and not 800.
Example: A local student, Akram, gets 4A*s, 2As, 1B and 1D in his O'levels, so his equivalence will be calculated as follows:
4*90+2*85+75+55= 660/800
Now converting it to total of 900, 660*900/800 = 742.5/900
So this guy will have 742.5 on his Matric certificate.
For A'levels equivalence you need to have given 8 subjects in O'levels and 3 subjects in A'levels, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology for Pre-Medical and Mathematics instead of Biology for Pre-Engineering. The 3 subjects marks are added to the 8 of the O'levels to give you an equivalence of FSc marks out of 1100.
Example for A'levels Equivalence: Akram now gets 1A*, 1B and 1C in his A'levels, so he got 90+75+65 = 230/300 in his A'levels alone. To find his FSc equivalence I'll add these to his O'levels marks out of 800, 230+660 = 890
So basically, this is how you calculate the equivalent marks of FSc and Matric if you are following the British education system. If you have any queries, leave a comment.
but according to this equivlancy program the students of o/a levels have a disadvantage but there is an increase in the ratio of students opting o levels?
ReplyDeleteThe A* reduces the disadvantage by quite a margin, along with the conceptual studies in O'levels make it preferable.
DeleteSalam OakMoon!
ReplyDeleteI got 1A,2B,2C in IGCSE, and i am expecting something between 3C to 3B in ALevels so what can my equivalence be?
i am in the same boat as you were before...i am starting to prepare for mcat from today.... i hope its not to late, can you please give me some tips or guidance from your experience, like should i make notes or just study? My cousin gave me KET'S bio, phy, chem and eng books so are they enough as i have 50 days approximately :(
Thank you for all these posts. waiting for your reply!
85+2*75+2*65=300*800/500=480/800 in O'levels. If you get 3Bs your A'levels equivalence will be 480+3*75=705 and in case of 3Cs it will be 480+3*65=675
DeleteCheck this other post of mine for MCAT preparation details: http://academicshelp.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-guide-to-uhs-mcat-especially-for.html
You'll have to go through the FSc books, as you can't replace them with the KETS ones. With your grades, and the resulting equivalence, there are very less chances of making it to a public medical college in Pakistan so you should also apply to private colleges.
Well, that was a little demotivating...but i am an overseas student....
DeleteSo if i work really hard for MCAT, what should be my target score in MCAT to cover up my board exam result? Like how much i SHOULD and MUST score out of 1100?
Thank you, and i am waiting for your response.
I am not sure how the merit of overseas seats is made but if they require MCAT then you should work as hard as possible and get the maximum number of marks you can.
DeleteAll i have are the KETS books, so are they enough for MCAT? My cousin who gave me the books said that they are summaries but are more than enough.....And by maximum number, what exact number should i keep as my target? Last thing, should i reveise my ALevel books too? Is the exam ONLY from FSC or even ALevel?
DeleteThank you for your response!
Read this: http://academicshelp.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-guide-to-uhs-mcat-especially-for.html
DeleteAll your questions will be answered.
What will be the total marks if we've given 7 subjects in O'levels instead of 8?
ReplyDeleteLike in your example it's 800
The total marks will still be out of the 900 by the ratio method. But for O'levels equivalence there is a requirement to have 8 subjects if you have done your O'levels from Pakistan, and only 5 subjects are counted (Urdu, Pakistan Studies and Islamiat are not included) if you have completed your O'levels from abroad or have a foreign nationality.
DeleteCould you please let me know about A'levels equivalence too?
DeleteLike is it done all together with AS and the A2 results? Or could we just get a separate equivalence certificate for AS so we can apply for MCAT?
Thanks a lot.
No, you can only get your equivalence made after your A2 that is with complete A'levels result. As for MCAT they require a hope certificate that gives an assurance that you'll get atleast 60% marks.
DeleteWhat if somebody does Fsc after taking 9 subjects
ReplyDeleteIslamiyat
Second Language Urdu
Pakistan Studies
English Language
Computer Science
Mathematics(Syllabus D)
Additional Mathematics
Chemistry
Physics ?
What will be the procedure?
Since this is O'levels you'll get a Matric equivalence by IBCC from the 8 subjects (5 compulsory, and 3 optional) out of the 9 you took. In this case if you apply for a "Science" certificate they will not include Additional Mathematics grade when making your equivalence and consider the rest of your 8 subjects. Your total marks will be equated to 900 instead of 800 by ratio method as described above, and this certificate will be used for your admission to FSc.
DeleteFSc marks will be out of 1100 and you'll not require any other certificate for that.
Can u plz guide me about equivalency for o levels
ReplyDeleteCan u plz guide me about equivalency for o levels
ReplyDeleteCan u plz guide me about equivalency for o levels
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I have done in the post above. :)
DeleteHi. I got a U in O'levels Mathematics but need to get my equivalency made. So will it be made or not? or do I have to give the paper again as IBCC says that it's a compulsory subject. However, it's not like I didn't attempt the paper but just got a U. Please help, im very tensed.
ReplyDeleteMy grades are, O'levels: 2A, 2 C, 4 B, 1U
A'level grades are: 3A, 1E
The problem with a U grade is that it doesn't appear on the final certificate, which makes it unaccountable for. You will have to appear for the exam again to have your equivalence made, but you can confirm this by calling the IBCC people.
ReplyDeleteHey, I got 1A*, 6As and 1B in O Levels. 759/900 is my matric equivalence score i've already made it.
ReplyDelete2Cs and 1D in A Levels. So what will be my FSc equivalence score ?
Hey, I got 1A*, 6As and 1B in O Levels. 759/900 is my matric equivalence score i've already made it.
ReplyDelete2Cs and 1D in A Levels. So what will be my FSc equivalence score ?
860/1100, add 2x65 and 55 into the Matric equivalence out of 800
DeleteHey. Can you tell me your respective grades in O, A levels and the mcat? Just want to guess the minimum marks required in mcat to get into.KE. I have all A*s in O and A Levels Alhamdullilah. What do you think what is the minimum mcat score I should achieve? Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou need a 1000 plus score to make it to KE since the merit has sure risen in the succeeding years since I made it here.
ReplyDeleteWill do IA. Thanks!
DeleteI've got 1 A,5B's and 2 C's can you please calculate my matric equavalent result ?
ReplyDelete664/900

ReplyDeleteWhat will be my equivalence of ALevels? i got 2E's
ReplyDeleteAnd i got 1U.
DeleteFor getting addmission in a uni, is this equivalence okay? Or do i need to repeat.?
You need to repeat, as you won't get an equivalence until you have 3 passed subjects. Apply to the private universities that don't require equivalence.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSince you have done your A'levels from outside Pakistan, your case is different. You only need to have 5 subjects in O'levels which include English, Maths and three extra subjects. Please tell me the specific O'levels grades so I can calculate it for you.

DeleteNo, it isn't different. The only difference causing thing is your A'levels from abroad. Your subjects are a bit confusing for me too so I'll just tell you the probable equivalence. The 5 subjects from O'levels that I'll count are Physics, Chemistry and Biology so 85+75x3+65+75+65x2=580
DeleteConverting it to out of 1100, 580x1100/800= 798
So 798 will be your equivalence. But it could be around this, as I don't know if IBCC accepts ICT as a subject or not.
Please help me out! I'm not given enough time for this and IBCC won't give equivalence certificate any earlier even though it's on urgent basis. I really need the calculated marks! Please make sure it would be accurately around these marks as i'll enter the marks you calculate.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteTo make the fsc equivalence the O'levels grades are added to the A'levels ones, but I'm not sure how in your case that'll be done. So I'm sorry, you should contact IBCC or wait for your equivalence to come.
DeleteIf I find the O'levels marks out of 800 and then add the A'levels marks, you get 805.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThank you for helping! I have entered your previous calculated marks.
DeleteJazak Allah khair!
i have gotten 2As 1B 1C 3D AND 1U what would that make ?
ReplyDeleteYou need 8 pass subjects to get an equivalence.
DeleteHELLO DEAR
ReplyDeleteI HAVE SCORED FOLLOWING GRADES IN O LEVEL
AAAABBBB
AND FOLLOWING IN A LEVEL
BCC
PLEASE ALSO TELL ME WHAT GRADE I WILL BE RECIEVING AFTER EQUIVALENCY
845/1100
DeleteI have done two Alevels and they said I can't have equivalence.two years back they used to.i did my Alevels in 2009.is there any way I can present my case
ReplyDeleteAccording to my information, you need 3 A'levels to be eligible for equivalence. But if the rules were so in 2009, your equivalence should be made according to the rules at that time. I'm not sure of the rules back then, though.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteCan you please take mine out 1b 4c 2d 1e it's urgent please
ReplyDeleteCan you please twke mine out 1b 4c 2d 1e please reply to this post as I've turned my notification on on this. Need it urgently
ReplyDeleteYou'll get 551.25/900.
ReplyDeleteMy O level result is 2A* 6A and 2B.
ReplyDelete2A*- Phy and Maths
6A-Chem, Bio, Pak Studies, Islamiat, Sociology and Environmental Management.
2B-English language and Urdu Second Language.
Can you please tell me my equivalence and tell me if I will be credited for extra subjects. Also do I stand a chance in universities like nust, giki and pieas with this result or should i give a retake? I want to pursue engineering by the way. Thank you :)
Is it necessary to get equivalence of o level's? Can I apply to universities with equivalence of A level's alone ?
ReplyDeleteI got 3As , 4Bs and a d in o level's and 2 A's and a B in A levels physics , maths and Chemistry respectively. Could you please calculate equivalence for me ? :)

ReplyDeletehello please help me. I am tired of the rot learning system so I need help
ReplyDeleteHello I am a matric student and I am planning to do A levels instead of Intermediate... I got 460 marks in 9 class and I'll try to make it to 1000/1100 for matric.. I want to do medical here(MBBS), would I be able to make it?
ReplyDeleteMBBS is all about rote learning, so it'll be useless if you leave matric for A'levels and then come back into the rote system again. Plus, its not easy for us to get admission in MBBS after A'levels.
DeleteBut I want to do medical.. what should I do then
DeleteContinue with the Matric and FSc system and work as hard as you can. You can study the books of A'levels along with your books to make concepts instead of just learning by rote.
DeleteBut I always had a dream of studying international system and I want to see how that system works.... But A levels is internationally known and doing it will give me more advantage... Right?
DeleteHi firstly thankyou for this and secondly i have given my olevel exams and now i wanted to go to fsc pre-med. i wanted to know whether the extra subject i have taken will count in my equivalency? i took sociology and the sciences subjects with the three compulsory ones. my result is going to come in january
ReplyDeletefive compulsory*
DeleteThe extra subjects are not counted for equivalence. They require only the 5 compulsory and 3 sciences.
DeleteAlright thankyou and well does giving repeat have anything to do with equivalence?
DeleteHi..i reside in dubai.
ReplyDeletei ve 7 O levels 5A 1B 1 C.
and 3 A levels.C E e (small e as an A grade)tho i gave 3 A levels..how they wud consider this grade.
You need 3 complete A'levels to get an equivalence. The small e means the grade is for AS Levels as you were not good enough for a complete A'levels grade. You'll have to appear for A2 again.
Delete***e as level grade
ReplyDeletei got an A* 2 As and 5 Bs in Olevel and (2 Bs in the first year of Alevels, do i have a shot into a medical collage)
ReplyDeleteSince you have already started with A'levels, you don't have the option of choosing FSc. Frankly speaking, you don't have a chance at making it to a government medical college with those grades. You might get an admission at private colleges.
Delete...continued from the last comment....im giving the third AS (e) exam rite now in october november..
ReplyDeletePlz calculate my equivalence certificate percentage. I have done O and A Levels and the following are my subjects and grades :-
ReplyDeleteO LEVELS in 2010 :
Pakistan Studies-B
Islamiyat-A
Urdu-A
Physics-C
Chemistry-C
Accounting-B
Additional Mathematics-C
Mathematics-B
English-B
A LEVELS in 2012 :
Economics-C
Accounting-C
Mathematics-D
785/1100
Deletedo they give equivalency for urdu and english as a second language in o levels
ReplyDeleteDo you by any chance know how does IBCC calculate equivalency for students from Canada, with percentage grades, say 92% in 5 subjects.
ReplyDeleteI have gone through the IBCC doc on their web site and also checked at different sites but it seems kind of confusing. All I know at this point its one of the following:
a) deduct 20% so 92% will end up being 72%
b) deduct 15% so it will be 77%
c) deduct 5% so it will be 87%
On top of that I hear they keep changing rules every couple of years, I am hoping to get this done next year.
Sorry, I'm not sure about it either.
DeletePLEASE CALCULATE MINE AS WELL
ReplyDeleteO'levels done in 2013-14
1A* , 7As , 1B
Alevlels:
2As, 1B.
trying to apply for AMC MBBS
Only 8 O'levels subjects are considered. The extra subject is not included in making the equivalence and assuming that B is in the extra subject, you'll get 930/1100 in fsc equivalent.
Deleteoh no! It's 6As sorry. This means I have to work harder for AMC because my FSC marks are not good enough...
DeleteThat makes it 920, yes you will have to.
Deleteand in the older days idk some marks were always deducted from O/A level students, I guess 10 or 20. Is this practice still continued?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I have mentioned in my blog above. The maximum you can score for a subject is 90/100 if you get an A*.
Deleteif i have done two a levels with an A and a B grade in math and chem, will i get my equivalency or not?
ReplyDeleteYou need three subjects in A'levels for equivalence.
Deletebut, u know indus valley school of art and architecture wants only 2 a levels with a minumum of grade D in both, so will they accept me?
DeleteYou won't need to give them the equivalence then. Call them and ask if its good enough.
Deleteomg thank god!
Deleteand 9 olevels
ReplyDeleteFrench A
eng 1st lang B
biology B
chemistry A
physics A
mathematics A
psychology B
business B
economics B
If you did your O and A'levels both from Pakistan, then you can't get an equivalence with Urdu, Pakistan Studies and Islamiat.
Deletei did them in uae and qatar! so can i get my equivalency then???
DeleteFor O'levels yes, you can either get a science or arts equivalence.
Deletehi. can you please share the procedure for those who did o'levels before 2010
ReplyDeletei did before 2010 but never go for equivalence. now i badly need it. help me out please
You guys will get 85 for A, 75 for B and so on. Since, there was no A* back then you can only get 935 maximum.
Deletei got A on 95, C on 75, so how should i calculate marks accordingly?
DeleteThere are fixed percentages for every grade. You'll get 85 for the A and 65 for the C. You need 8 subjects in O'levels to get the equivalence including the 5 compulsory subjects as stated above.
Deleteok calculate marks for these grades plz
Delete1A, 4C, 1D, 2E
You get 551/900 in Matric equivalent.
DeleteSalam...I want to tell that i just gave o levels exams for first year
ReplyDeletePAK STUDIES (C)
ISLAMIYAT (D)
URDU (A)
AND now I'm preparing for the rest...i just want to know that should i do A-levels after completing my O-levels or should i opt for Intermediate..(I'm a Medical Student)....I'm just scared of equivalency and my parent also asked me to do intermediate so please guide me what will be the best option...
I'd suggest you to go for intermediate. Even then you'll have to work very hard to attain a good chance. Best of luck in any case.
DeleteI am in class 8 and joining O levels from Jan.2016. I am selecting (5.compulsory) English+Urdu+Match+PakStudy+Islamiyat and with 3 Physics+Chem+IT ... what if I select additional mathematics as my 9th subject? will it give me any benefit at time of equivalence?
ReplyDeleteNo, that won't benefit you for equivalence. Only 8 subjects are counted.
DeleteHello, i don't know if you can help me or not but here's my problem. I gave my first 3 O levels exam which were Urdu, ICT and environmental management.. In dubai, In which i got 3 B's..
ReplyDeleteDue to certain circumstances i had to leave dubai just before my exams.. So now i gave the remaining five, which were Maths, English, physics, biology and Chemistry. In the O/N session.
So can my equilancy be made or not. Because i didn't give Pakistani studies and islamiat studies. Please reply ASAP.. Its a real problem for me. may allah bless you
If you appeared for the next five subjects in Pakistan then you definitely need Islamiat and Pakistan studies for equivalence.
DeleteThanks bro.
DeleteHey! I gave my A levels in 2014 in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry and got a B in Mathematics and E's in the other two. I am going to appear again in my A levels in May/June 2016, to improve my result. My question is that how will I get my equivalence made? Like can I ask them to take the grade of Mathematics (which was a B) from my previous result and the new (improved) grades of the other two from the latest GCE result, and make an equivalence certificate out of that?
ReplyDeleteI hope I made myself clear.
Yes, they will consider your improved result when you give them both your certificates.
DeleteHey i have done my olevEls privately, isl eng pst maths urdu
ReplyDeleteN doing alevels privately,
English language economics n business studies , will i get admissuom for bba in pvt university like hamdrd n iqra ? Im from pakistan help pls
You have to contact the respective universities. Usually, the local universities require you to possess an equivalence certificate which requires you to have 8 subjects in O'levels and 3 in A'levels.
DeleteHow 8??
DeleteEnglish, Urdu, Maths, Pakistan Studies, Isamiat and 3 subjects of your choice.
DeletePlus i wanto ask you that it will get complted in this nov, so can i get admissiom in university in january or not ?
ReplyDeleteWhat if a student has more than 8 subjects in o level? i had 11
ReplyDeleteOnly 8 are considered. 5 compulsory and 3 subjects that you choose.
DeleteYo mate its me again. I want a favour from you. Can you work out the equilancy percentage of my brother.
ReplyDeleteHe scored 5C's and 2D's and 2E's.thanks in advance
8 subjects please, these are 9
DeleteMy bad... It's 4C and 2d and 2e
Delete518/900 which is 57.5%.
Deletehello.i am a pre med student and my o level grades are 1A* 3AS,3 BS and 1 C. and my A level score is 2 A* and one A.i have heard from friends that the ibcc deducts further 2% froum our final percentage?is it true?what is the real procedure of percentage deduction.
ReplyDeleteNo, they don't.
DeleteHiii!
ReplyDeleteMy O levels grades are 5A's and 3B's
I had business economics and accounts in O level subjects.can I calculate equivalency for that in normal way? because i need to submit university admission form by tomorrow
Yes, the normal way applies. 85 for A, and 75 for B, and then make the total 900.
DeleteSo you'll have 85x5+75x3=650/800
Then for 900 total= 650x900/800
=731
Your equivalence will be 731 marks out of 900 or 81.25%
Can equivalency be made with 2 A levels subject and 7 IGCSE subjects?
ReplyDeleteNo, you require 3 A'levels and 8 O'levels.
Deletewhat will be mine equivalence score if I got 4 A* in A level and I have got 8A* in Olevel...
ReplyDelete990/1100
DeleteI got 64% in my olevels and got 1B,1D and 1E? What will be my percentage now on equivalence certificate?
ReplyDeleteI got 5A,3B what will be my equivalence ?
ReplyDeleteI got 5A,3B what will be my equivalence ?
ReplyDeleteI got 5A,3B what will be my equivalence ?
ReplyDelete731/900
DeleteI got 4 A*'s and 4 A's. But i gave urdu B syllabus what will be my equivalence?
ReplyDeleteUrdu B doesn't affect equivalence. You will get 788/900.
DeleteHey.
ReplyDeleteI've got 2B's,3C's and 3D's in Olevels and IB,1D and 1E in Alevels. What will be my equivalence?
Please reply.
Delete685/1100
DeleteIf I repeat my some olevel subjects their grades will be count in equivalence ??
ReplyDeleteYes, your best result is counted in the equivalence.
Deletehey i have got 3A*,1A and 1b in my olevels.what will be my equivalence? and also i have just done my As-level in three subjects with 1A and 2B so do you have any idea what grades do i require in my Alevels to get into a good medical university like KE or AMC ?
ReplyDeletePlease reply.
DeleteYou need 8 subjects in O'levels for equivalence.
Deletebut i completed my olevels and will complete my A levels from saudia arabia.so i require 5 subjects ,right?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHey oakmoon! Plz reply... Does ibcc deduct 2% from the result after equivalency conversion..will it be hard for me to go to govt medical uni even if i get all a* in o levels?? Plz do reply!
ReplyDeleteNo, 90% is the maximum equivalence you can get with all A*. Read the rest of the blog for further answer to this.
DeleteHey oakmoon plz reply..does ibcc deduct 2% from result after equivalency..and if i get a*s in all o levels subs will it still be hard for me to go to medical?
ReplyDeleteI gave SAT exam, can I get equivalence certificate for it??
ReplyDeleteNo.
DeleteAssalam-O-Alaikum,OakMoon.I've been following your blog since the past two years, and I just wanted to say you're doing a wonderful job in figuring out the mind-boggling conundrums that students usually come across.Especially for O/A Level students.
ReplyDeleteMy enquiry is a tad off-topic and I hope the slight irrelevance doesn't make you hesitant in answering it.In O2,I scored above average grades(Two As and a B) and I'm going to appear for the rest of the subjects this May/June.I never really had an aptitude for mathematics since grade 6,as far as I remember;and that is making it really difficult for me to keep up with the rest of the class's progress. It has come to the point where my math teacher is suggesting me to appear in math in the Oct/Nov session as appearing now will not only put extensive burden on me,but it will also adversely affect the grades of subjects I'm good at.
My math teacher further added that it's possible to take admission in A-Levels without one O-Level subject and that you can appear for O and A level subjects simultaneously.
So,is it advisable to appear in mathematics in the Oct/Nov session and give some breathing space for the rest of the subjects in which I can potentially score good grades,or should I appear now and try to avoid the possible risks that come with appearing later? Your insightful response will be abundantly appreciated.
If I was in your position, I would have given the exam this May/June with my full effort and if, and only if, I didn't get a good grade I'd repeat it in Oct/Nov. But remember, its purely your choice. If you think making an effort for Mathematics will affect your preparation for other subjects then of course, your teacher stands correct. As for me, I don't think it will make a difference to your preparation. But its you who has to decide keeping in mind your potential and how much effort and hard work you can put in to prepare for the 5 subjects you are left with.
DeleteHey, i need to know my equivalent percentage. I have done o levels and still have to give two more which are Pakistan studies and islamiyat studies.coming to the point. My current olevel results are 1A,5B,1C and 1D. Thank you in advance. You really are helpful.
ReplyDeleteYou need Islamiat and Pakistan Studies for equivalence as they are compulsory subjects.
DeleteI know bro i will be giving these both this year in June. I wanted the equivalent of these subjects.
DeleteYou'd get 630/900 with the above 8 grades, and remember only 8 subjects which include the 5 compulsory are considered for equivalence and extra subjects are not counted.
DeleteHello i would like to know whether retakes affect your equivalence in o level cie
ReplyDeleteNo, the best grade is considered for equivalence.
DeleteSo like if i had a C and after the retake i get a A. The C wont matter? also I gave 5 subjects in which i got 2 Cs and want to now repeat them in Sept. Will i be able to get admission in a college this year? like before i get my result? i have also given 2 before. I had to give math in may but now i'll give it with the other 2 subjects in sept.
DeleteYes, it won't matter if you get the equivalence made. You can get the admission but most colleges require you to possess equivalence and for that you need all 8 subjects.
DeleteSalam Brother,I hope you're fine.I just want to ask that,I am recently an o Levels student looking ahead to get admission in a good college for intermediate.Do suggest me one or two colleges,I'll be really thankful secondly I got 1A 1B 2C's and 1D In O LEVELS Subjects still 5 are left to give.so what will be the equivalency for Inter college about this grades?
ReplyDeleteHello, I am currently in a levels and I have a foregin passport, my o level grades were A*AAAB, I wan t to do BDS but I have bio chem and maths as my subjects expected BBC am I eligible for am equovilance certificate? Or will I need to take physics...
ReplyDeletePlease contact IBCC to confirm that, but according to my information you require Physics.
Deleteive given olevels from comerce and iave got u in business but ive got 10 subjects pasing including 5 cmpulsary and acounting economics computer sociology and statistics
ReplyDeletewil i be able to make my equaulency for matric comerce
No, you still have 8 pass subjects that are necessary for equivalence.
Deletelet suppose iam showing the results for five cumpulsary subjects and accounting business and sociology will it b capabel for the equalency for matric cmmerce
DeleteYou'll have to confirm with IBCC to determine which subjects they consider for matric commerce.
DeleteBut if we have done A level after matric then what is the procedure of A level equivalence for fsc
ReplyDeleteI have no idea about that.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have about 70% matric equivalent marks, go for FC college, or KIPS which will have low merit comparatively.
DeleteI'm from Karachi Pakistan.I guess these mentioned colleges are in some other place?
DeleteYes, from Lahore. I don't know much about Karachi colleges.
DeleteOkay Thanks for the help.
DeleteI got 3As 3Bs 1C 1D in o levels which makes it 600/900 right ? And 1C 1D 1e in Alevels , i called ibcc to check if they make equivalence for small e and the guy said it is considered as 45 marks same as big E , should i trust that and give applucation for equivalence or repeat the subject ?
ReplyDeleteIts 675/900.
DeleteA small e is supposed to be AS level, I am not sure if incompleted subjects are considered by them.
Dear Oakmoon,
ReplyDeleteI have done my o levels from abroad and am doing a levels also outside of pakistan, what is my equivalence if i got 7A*s and 2 As in o level and get 1 A* and 3 As in a level.
also inform me of the deduction made for overseas students
You only require 5 main subjects in O'levels. English, Maths and three other subjects. No deductions are made due to being an overseas student.
DeleteDear Oakman,
ReplyDeletei have 5A*s and 3As in 8 compulsory subjects of o levels but an E in optional subject of o levels will it effect my overall equilance.
No, it won't. Only 8 compulsory subjects required.
Deletei want ur help
ReplyDeletei m in 9th and have a confusion over which syllabus should i give for urdu
urdu a or b
which of them is more marks gaining
Both fetch you similar grades. If you are good with Urdu, then go with "A", but if you have never really gotten hold of its grammar then Urdu B is the best option.
DeleteAoa I got 1 A , 1 B, 3 C's, 1 D and 2 E's in Olevels
ReplyDeleteCould you please calculate my equilance
563/900
DeleteWhat would be the exact percentage?
DeleteHey, firstly I wanted to know whether IBCC includes the subject grades that we only do in AS (for only first year if Alevels) in their equivalence?
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I wanted to know the exact percentage of scores that is deducted from both GCSE and Alevels.
And finally,I've heard from a few people that generally medical universities prefer the matric students. Is this any true? If yes than how?
No, you've to complete the A'levels to have your grades counted in the equivalence.
DeleteYou get 90% on A*, 85 for A and so on. They just have fixed marks for your grades, and don't look at your percentage.
There is no preference, but matric student tend to get better marks than what are the maximum possible narks for us.
Dear Oakmoon,
ReplyDeleteI am an overseas Pakistani student. I have done my IGCSE with 7 A*s and 2 As and my AS level with 3 As and 1 B. I will be completing my A levels in june. I intend to apply to AKU for medicine. what minimum grades and sat scores should I get to be on the safe side.
I'm not sure of the SAT score that is require by AKU for overseas student, but once you meet their minimum criteria, all that matters is the interview. Make sure you build your CV in a way to sweep them off their feet within the hour you get to talk.

ReplyDeleteHey, oakmoon. I am an 8th grade student and aim to do MBBS in the future. My mother is a doctor and she wants me to do matric (she doesnt mind me doing level either but she prefers matric) but I want to do Olevel because I love conceptual learning and the english language. I want to be a writer as well in the future and I fear matric would suck out all my creative juices. I am a somewhat good student (my percentage is usually above 95%) and when i memorise all the concepts, I automatically memorise everything word to word. My mother says that bcs of this i should do matric because i will get more marks because of my tendency to memorise everything word to word as well as by concepts. I want to do FSC after Olevels but i dont mind matric as well. What i fear is that matric will suck out all my creative juices because of the rote learning, but everyone says that is not so. Is it true that matric will stop my creativity or is it wrong? I study in beaconhouse (it offers both matric and olevel) and am confused whether to do olevels or matric. Please tell me which one to choose. Thanks
ReplyDeletePlease reply quick because we have less than a week to choose
DeleteYou need to understand that creativity comes from within you. Yes, it won't be polished as well in Matric as in O'levels, but you can always learn stuff side by side with your course work. But my opinion, and advice will be that you do O'levels. As you can see from my blog, I am a student who made it to King Edward after A'levels, so its not that difficult any more for use either to do MBBS. But even if you intend to do FSc, you can do O'levels first to hone your creativity and to develop better concepts, as many of my class mates have done that and easily made it to MBBS. Follow what your heart says, and don't let your mother influence what might be a crucial decision for you.
Deletehi, I would like to ask that is there any difference between Equivalency of IGCSE English as first language and English as Second language.
